hi, i’m felipe (:

this blog is some sort of stream of conciousness and throwaway thoughts, just things i wanna put out into the world, perhaps to keep myself accountable.

here are the plans for spring ‘26:

i wanna get outside and take more photos (or frankly just getting outside would be an improvement)
I’m involuntarily trying hard to keep up with the relentless pace of technology
i’m still trying to write more (i’m writing this blog! and also about: the latest death of cool, the attention economy, and about what gets lost when the lag between obscurity and visibility disappears)
also trying to remain hopeful while there’s nothing in the news but the blues.

motifs: like-minded [[community]] seeking, when does performance become reality, fake it ‘til you make it (you’ll make it)

the necessity of exposed vulnerability of some, and the comfort of the occlusion for others (so me); never, fading into the background, felt so appropriate. there’s beauty in a quiet life.

if a tree falls in the middle of the forest, no one has seen it grow or fall, did it really happen? this obsession with capturing and freezing light, stopping time with images, is so long, and for a long time so meaningful (you had to be astonished in order to capture, the friction was incredibly high), yet we are now completely detached from the meaning. we went through a step-change in 2020 and, in my perceived pedantic ways, less and less I wanna freeze light; we commodified show and tell to an extent that, for me, makes capturing moments almost devoid of joy. remember the one camcorder in your sister’s 7th (or 8? 9?) birthday? that was joyful. the moment was as joyful as capturing the moment. I wonder if I’ll ever feel this way again, the realist in me says I won’t, so I might as well stop trying to freeze light and capture time in that way. but maybe chasing the feeling is enough stimulant.

testing, testing, 1, 2.

while AI has been the big thing for the past 5 or so years, I’m already seeing the pendulum swinging for more down-to-earth, organic interactions - much in the same way we overdid it at CGI when it first was the big thing, and then all fancy film directors wanted practical effects back everywhere.

either way, this is my attempt at a down-to-earth, organic interaction. I wanna use this blog for throwaway posts, maybe things I find interesting, and perhaps even some deeper thoughts.

retrodithering is a project I started to learn some coding concepts, made in honour of the late Bill Atkinson.
